As teaching methods and student needs evolve, we must ensure that our schedule remains purposeful and aligned with our mission. Over the past year, we have partnered with Independent School Management (ISM)—a leading consulting firm with over 45 years of experience working with independent schools—to conduct a comprehensive review of the student schedule with plans to implement a new schedule in the 2026-27 school year.
Schedule Highlights
We are excited to share the following enhancements, designed to foster deeper engagement and student well-being:
-
A consistent, predictable rhythm: We are moving from a six-day rotation to a ten-day rotation. This structure creates a steady, repeatable cycle aligned with the days of the week that helps students better anticipate their workload and manage their time. The academic day will end at 2:50 for primary, lower, and upper school students.
-
Deep learning and focus: The daily cadence will feature fewer transitions and longer, one-hour morning class blocks, providing the necessary time for project-based learning and hands-on discovery.
-
Prioritizing well-being: We are increasing recess time for Lower School students and extending the morning break for Upper School students to ensure students are refreshed and ready for the rest of the day.
-
Dedicated support: We have built in additional time for community programming, advisory, and expanded opportunities for students to receive extra help.
Late Start Thursdays
A strategic objective of this work was to provide time for weekly faculty meetings and collaboration. Beginning in the 2026-2027 school year, we will implement a weekly late start on Thursdays at 8:30 am. This weekly meeting time enables faculty to collaborate on curricular innovation and align instructional strategies in order to effectively meet students' academic and developmental needs.
Beginning this fall, families will have two options for Thursday morning dropoff:
-
Arrival at 8:30 am: 家庭资源 may drop students off on Thursday mornings at 8:30 am for the start of the school day.
-
Extended 贝博体育app AM Care: For those who need an earlier drop-off, our AM Care remains available from 7:00 am. This benefit continues to be included in your tuition.
To assist us with our logistics, please let us know your preliminary plans for the fall. We understand that family routines may evolve.
Thank you for your partnership as we optimize the 贝博体育app experience for every student! Please feel free to contact Judi O'Brien, Assistant Head of School for the Academic Program, at jobrien@fayschool.org with any questions.
